Kool-Aid is still childrens’ favorite drink, but it can wreak havoc on your carpet. Kool-Aid (and popsicles, wines, etc) is a dye. What this means is that it may be able to stain your carpet a different color if you have a nylon or wool carpet! Never fear, though. It can be safely and easily removed without damaging your flooring. Any carpet cleaner should be able to remove it and those who say it can’t be removed shouldn’t be allowed to do anything to your carpet as long as you live there!
Note: Some of you may have a special remedy for this type of staining and there are some that do work. However, please be aware that what works for you on one stain may not be so effective on another. Be cautious about using these procedures too much because, remember, THESE REMOVE COLOR…PERIOD. It doesn’t just target the red and can bleach your carpet if not properly used. BUT that doesn’t mean that it can’t be removed. A professional knows things about stains that you don’t know and that is what makes them so effective. Oxy-Action Cleaners (like Oxy-Clean), when used properly can be great at removing these types of stains.
A mother’s worst nightmare! This product contains two levels of soiling that need to be addressed differently. The first is that finger nail polish is an oil. The second is that it is a dye. If you don’t handle both issues you may well have a problem. There are some do-it-yourself methods for this, but I personally can’t vouch for any of them. If you really want to try removing it yourself, tips can be found at www.ehow.com.
The most difficult of all staining to remove from a carpet…not impossible…just difficult. There is no home remedy that will be successful for a home owner to use in these instances. Call a professional carpet cleaner and be sure he’s confident about his abilities. These types of stainings aren’t necessarily cost prohibitive but may take more than one visit to remove as treatments are time-involved. The length of cleaning-time is determined by many factors that cannot always be predicted.
